MURTER – THE LARGEST OF CROATIA’S SMALLER ISLANDS
The oldest colony, also Murter, is a tourist town numbering 2000 inhabitants. It is located in the bay of Hramina, sheltered by the hills of Raduč (125 m), Sv. Roko (70 m) and Gradina (62 m). It abounds in sandy beaches, pine woods and old olive trees. You can reach Murter by road (there is a bridge connecting the land and the island), by train via Zadar and Šibenik, by airplane via Zadar and Split, and by the ship.
Every day tourist ships head to Kornati. Besides Kornati, there are other atractive destinations: National Park Krka (toward Šibenik) and Paklenica (toward Zadar).
Because of its natural privileges, non-polluted environment and beautiful clear sea (Sea transparency reaches 56 m of depth), Murter is one of the most popular Mediterranean destinations. Mediterranean climate ensures warm and dry summer and mild winter.
On island Murter, spring already starts in February, while the swimming season is possible in May. Because of the favourable climate conditions, long walks along the beach and pine woods is recommended.
Have a pleasant stay in Murter.
